The vast majority of our programs are delivered by accredited golf professionals at established inclusive golf facilities, Empower Hubs, supported by Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia.
We believe golf should be a game for everyone:
- Provide adaptive programs and on course support.
- Specialised clinics and events nationally.
- Fund, provide and procure adaptive equipment.
- Establish accessible and inclusive facilities.
- Support individuals and organisations procuring inclusive funding.
- Disability training and education to the golf industry.
- Multi disability tournaments and tours.
Through Empower Golf, the impossible becomes possible
Our Story
A life-changing injury that sparked a movement
Empower Golf was born after founder James Gribble’s life changed in an instant. A spinal cord injury in 2008 left him a quadriplegic, but it never took away his love for golf or his determination to turn adversity into opportunity.
Today, Empower Golf supports Australians of all abilities with adaptive clinics, specialised equipment and a welcoming community.
Our Goals
Our mission is to make golf inclusive for all by:
- Promoting the physical, psychological, and social benefits of golf for people with disabilities.
- Increasing participation in inclusive golf programs across Australia.
- Raising awareness of disability sports and the positive impact of adaptive golf.
- Challenging stereotypes and shifting public perceptions around people with disabilities through golf.
- Providing accessible golf equipment, adaptive services, inclusive facilities, and strong advocacy to support every golfer’s journey.
OUR Why
We believe golf should be a game for everyone:
- Golf’s unique handicap system allows fair competition regardless of age, gender, or ability.
- Golf is a lifelong sport, offering social, mental, and physical benefits throughout all stages of life.
- There has been a historic lack of support from the golf industry, disability organisations, and funding bodies.
- Prior to Empower Golf, no national multi-disability golf organisation existed to support inclusive play.
- Playing and competition opportunities for golfers with disabilities were extremely limited, we’re here to change that.
