ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT
Inclusive equipment for every golfer
The Paramotion
The Paramotion is an all terrain wheelchair that lifts the user into a standing position, allowing for a more natural golf swing.
Designed for the course, it has low pressure tyres and a wide stance, giving it access to almost every part of the golf course. That includes greens, practice areas and specially designed bunkers.
The Paramotion is often used by people with high-level spinal cord injuries, but it’s also great for anyone with mobility or stability challenges.
You can try or hire a Paramotion at selected Golf Clinics and Empower Golf Hubs across Australia.
Paramotion FAQs
Do I need specialist training to use a Paramotion?
Empower Golf and specially trained staff at Empower Golf Hubs run Paramotion training sessions.
The training covers the basic operation, maintenance and set up of the Paramotion and how to safely use the Paramotion around a golf course.
Once a player has completed their Paramotion training, they can hire a Paramotion at a number of Empower Golf Hubs around the country.
The one off training costs $350.00. Contact us to book or discuss funding options if required.
Where can I find a Paramotion?
Paramotions are available for hire (just like a golf cart) at Moore Park Golf, Long Reef Golf Club, Gosford Golf Club, The Ridge, Rich River Golf Club, Emerald Downs Golf Course, Shelly Beach Golf Club, Wyong Golf Club and Everglades in New South Wales.
In Queensland, the Paramotion is available at The Club at Parkwood Village, Oxley Golf Club, Half Moon Bay Golf Club and Pacific Harbour Golf Club.
They are also available at Albert Park Golf Course and Curlewis Golf Club in Victoria, Devonport Country Club in Tasmania, West Beach Parks Golf Club in South Australia and Wembley Golf Course in Western Australia.
Each club has its own conditions of use, so it is wise to call ahead to check for availability. We are also currently in discussions with 20 new locations around the country.
What does the Paramotion weigh?
The Paramotion weighs approximately 200kg.
This weight is required to provide a steady platform and to offset the dynamic forces generated from a golf swing.
However, with its low-pressure tyres and wide stance, it spreads its weight across a wide footprint.
Gripping Solutions
For players with limited hand function or upper limb amputation, there are many adaptive gripping options available to help hold and swing a golf club with confidence.
At Empower Golf, we’ve supported golfers with all levels of hand and wrist function. In fact, our founder James Gribble, who lives with a C4-5 incomplete quadriplegia and has minimal wrist and hand movement, has personally tested many of the solutions we recommend.
Everyone’s needs are different, so it may take some trial and error to find the solution that feels right for you. We’re here to guide you through the process and help you get the most out of adaptive equipment.
Whatever your level of ability, we’re confident we can help you find a solution that works.
Simple gripping solution
One of the easiest and most effective ways to support grip is by using a broad strip of reinforced elastic with a strong Velcro fastening. This strap secures the player’s hand firmly to the club, allowing for a stable swing.
While it provides a solid grip, some players may still need a bit of help from a caddy or support person, especially when putting it on or adjusting between shots, depending on their level of hand function.
Customised glove with gripping tube
Another great option is a customised glove fitted with a gripping tube. The golf club is inserted into the tube, which securely holds it in place.
